The problem lies with the file integrity. This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Driverstry downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2101&DwnldID=20624Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

Go to Windows Update,
click on Change Settings
set update option to 'Never update' , then OK out
Now go back again, and set it back to your preferred option.
reboot, and try WU - Check for updates.

Done, new diagnostic posted.
Thanks for your help.
Out of curiosity do Microsoft know that they are breaking the law in the UK?
This breaches section 3 of the computer misuse act (even if the software turned out to be pirated, don't you just love badly worded legislation)
I suggest whoever in Microsoft is responsible for genuine advantage not visit the UK on holiday, they run the risk of it being extended up to 10 years (although the UK Gov would provide basic accomodation :-) )

The report looks fine now.
I don't get you? - in what way does it (what?) contravene the Act?

Microsoft did nothing to cause the file corruption that triggered the non-genuine condition.....your actions did.

@Noel, thanks for your time, so should I not get the message now and more importantly will update work?
@Carey, in what way did my actions cause the problem?
<rant>
Genuine advantage quite clearly breaches section 3 as it impairs the operation of windows update which exposes the computer / user to unpatched security risks, it also subjects the user to nag screens and implies genuine customers of microsoft are either criminals or have been stupidly conned into buying pirated software.
The suggestion from the supplier of my software was to wipe the machine, re-install Vista and then upgrade to windows 7 again, which would have taken me at least 2 days to get my machine back to the current build.
Fortunately I found you guys and it is very nice of microsoft to allow you guys to give up your spare time to help out customers and I am very grateful.
I have been an IT professional since 1987, have used MSDOS, Windows 3.11, 95, 98, 98se, xp, vista and now 7. I have always built my own machines mainly for the fun of it.
I am not exactly a naive user, other than having to patch the bios to resolve a hardware issue, I can think of nothing that would have caused an issue.
I firmly believe that you should pay for software, and even back when my friends were doing tape copies of spectrum games I saved up and bought mine, because even back then I realised that if I wanted games in the future there had to be an industry funded by my purchases to write them.
I HATE copy protection, I do not believe it is effective in preventing piracy and it's main impact is on people like me who want to support the industry.
So yes I get a bit miffed when companies have the cheek to accuse me of being a criminal and then break the law to do it

WGA does NOT block security updates - merely non-security ones. Most of the nag screens say 'may be counterfeit' - not 'is counterfeit'Windows update not working may be a different problem altogether - you should test it asap.

Windows Update stopped working at same time (or very close) I assumed it was part of the same issue.
Am running a full virus check just in case but nothing so far
stopped and started the service but didn't make any difference (I assume this is the one)

Go to Windows Update,
click on Change Settings
set update option to 'Never update' , then OK out
Now go back again, and set it back to your preferred option.
reboot, and try WU - Check for updates.

Windows Update now seems to be working. Thanks very much for your help.
So do you know why this happened?
It seems strange that a disk driver issue should trigger a genuine advantage nag and stop windows update or was something else going on?

There has been a huge rash of the WU problem over the past week or so - I have no idea what caused it, but it doesn't appear to be related to a Windows update.Your other problem, we've had a steady dribble of for quite a while. I suspect that the IRST is not the root cause, but it's certainly a convenient fix :)
