Windows Home Server domain name RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Windows Home Server machine at home crashed and I had to reinstall it.
I am trying to configure Remote Access again but it is telling me that the previous domain name I had configured (using my Windows Live ID) is no longer available.
I never released it before my Home Server crashed so I am assuming this is why it is no longer available.
My family is very much used to that domain name, so I was wondering if it was possible to release that domain name in any other way so I can configure it again on my Windows Home Server, please?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Marc Pichel

  • It will eventually be released, but I don't know how long it takes. There is no action you can take to have it released sooner, though. Are you certain that you're using the same Live ID? Many users have created a Live ID specifically for the purpose, and when they later re-install, they forget they even did so.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
