SSRS 2008 and CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • To accomplish using SSRS2008 report builder with CRM 4.0  I see there are 3 options and I'm not sure which works:

    1. Install CRM on SQL05 and connect to a SQL05 Report Server then attempt to upload a 2008 RDL (pretty sure this won't work)

    2. Install CRM on SQL05 and connect to a SQL08 Report Server then attempt to upload a 2008 RDL (not sure if this works)

    3. Install CRM on SQL08 and connect to a SQL08 Report Server then attempt to upload a 2008 RDL (not sure if this works)

  • No. 1 won't work - SQL2005 Report Server won't recognise the RDL. The 2 options that can work are:

    1. Your option no. 3. Note that it is typically easier to install CRM 4 on SQL 2005 with 2005 Report Server, then upgrade SQL and Rpeort Server to 2008
    2. Have CRM use SQL 2005 and SQL 2005 Report Server, but install a separate SQL 2008 and 2008 Report Server instance

  • Hi David,

Option 1 might be what I have to try but it seems like a long work around.  I have option 2 working currently but the problem there is that since CRM isn't managing the reports you have to use Linked Reports which causes a logon prompt and since were in a IFD environment a AD logon isn't acceptable.

Microsoft officially support CRM 4.0 and SSRS 2008 at this time so you would think they would have a tek paper out on this.
