  • Experiencing just the same problem, have Home Premium 64bit version. It's very frustrating to pay for something you don't get. This was EXACTLY why I bought this software, with the Validation thingy, you make me regret it now.

  • Posted same problem here yesterday.  Hoping they get to posting a hot sticky that tells everyone the validation server is down (according to an MSFT).  Don't know the ramifications of this yet though...

  • The command "slmgr -dlv" run from a command line will clearly show if it is is licensed or not.

Mine shows licensed. However, due to a bug / bad update, the Genuine Advantage warning and some features will be disabled until Microsoft gets around to fixing the bug and sending out a new update.

One option to try is to make sure that the AUtomatic Updates is turned on.

a Window shows "Windows Script Host" and i see

at the end from this windowtext  :

    LizenzStatus : Lizensiert (german version).

ok my version is licensed and i will wait on a new update

(my automatic update is allways on.)

  • Having the same problem. I'll give it a couple of hours.

One of the marvelous features of WGA is it randomly disables Vista features for no good reason.

  • All I have to say is that they better release a patch in the next few days that disables WGA. They have proven that it just does not work and can potentially cripple systems. Stop making this horrible decisions Microsoft, I absolutly hate Apple with all my heart and do everything I can to defend Microsoft but I'm finding that I cannot win these battles anymore. Its becomming clear that Apple is superior Sad

  • Now, I am seeing this error:

Optional upate delivery is not working
You may be a victim of sotware counterfieting.

Let's hope they fix the WGA soon.

Actually, they should have allowed all updates and download of patches without having to validate, until they fix WGA.

    Now this:

    Windows Aero is not working
You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.
To use all Microsoft Windows features, such as the
Windows Aero color scheme and its associated visual
elements; get the latest updates; and receive product
support, your copy of Microsoft Windows must be
    validated as geniune.

And at the bottom right of the screen, this:

    Windows Vista (TM)
    Build 6000
This copy of Windows is not genuine

My Vista is geniune as I had paid for it and activated it.

  • The issue has been resolved.

    Visit:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.aspx?displaylang=en
and click on "Validate Windows".  Afterward, log-off your account and
log back on and the Windows Vista Aero feature will return to normal
    functionality.

  • Thank you Carey.

You guys must have worked round the clock to fix this.

I think this is a management's fault.  IF WGA or any validation server is not working, then Microsoft should allow downloading of patches or updating of Windows or Aero until they find the solution.
