Is the Server backup for WHS secure?

Question
-
I'm considering using an external drive to backup WHS. Part of my decision is whether this backup is secure. If someone was through nefarious means acquire my external drive, could he replicate my WHS Server and then look at my data?
The existing windows XP backup utility can require that a password be used to open the backup for restoring purposes. Is their equivalent functionality on WHS?

It wouldn't even need to be replicated. Anyone can connect that drive to any computer using NTFS and open the files.

So the security is physical security then. I need to store offsite backup in a phsically secure manner.
This certainly makes secure online backups more appealing. Does that backup mechanism also only do changed clusters on the server or is it an entire image of the files/folders selected? I'm trying to determine what my costs might be to use an online backup.- Marked as answer by TheYellowJersey Saturday, November 7, 2009 8:03 PM
