Validation of MSDN edition of VISTA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Like many others, I have been made an "bad guy" overnight.  Please fix this ASAP. It is pretty annoying!  I guess MS is testing a way to get rid of all the leeches that don't pay for their software - fair enough.  BUT please do NOT test this on us!  Testing is already a teadious business without this kind of trouble.

  • Hello,

Please open a command prompt and type: slui 4

then hit enter.  This will allow you to go through phone activation.  Once you've done that please try to revalidate by clicking on "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

Let me know if that works.  Thanks a lot!

  • Hello,

Can you tell me what you're experiencing?  Are you non-genuine?  Are you activated?  What error code are you seeing?  (If you're getting a non-genuine message, you can view the error message by trying to validate again here: www.microsoft.com/genuine .  The error code will be at the end of the message on the validation failure webpage.  It will be gray and in brackets.)

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Yes, I am a genuine MSDN licensed user.  Activated=yes. Errorcode=[0xC004C4A6]

The problem appeared after a restart.  I'm not sure if there is anything I could have done before the restart, that trigged it.

Have tryed reinserting serial and reactivate. Same result:  a window pops up and tells me "This copy of Windows is not genuine"

This Vista was installed 2-3 days after the release to MSDN users.

It is of course being used to test.  We have webbased systems on embedded LINUX, that we must be sure work on IE 7 and Vista.  You know how it is with users - something new "Gotta have it!" never mind if its necessary ;-)  (I'm not like that myself... well ok then, a little.)

I have a textfile with a dump of windows errors (from System Information) if is of any use.

    Thanks for your concern

  • Hi,

It worked!!  But remember to restart the computer after this activation.

A comment to the activation by phone.  WOW. A lot of numbers!!  And when receiving the activation code, it might be good to slow down a bit.

Thanks for your assistance.  It was REALLY beginning to P.. me off.

The strange thing was that I had no problem activating - ever.  It just didn't have any affect, when done from inside Vista.

    Michael
