How to safely change the hostname? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I gave this installation a temporary nonsense name.  It's turned out marvelously so far, so I'd like to change it to its "real" name.

The Control Panel -> System dialog won't work: it's disabled, with an error message about Certificate Services being installed.  I could uninstall it and regenerate the self-signed certs later, but I'm not sure what this might screw up as far as Vail and/or the connector software.  Anyone know?

  • The name can't be changed in this build. There should be a way to do so in a future build, though.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Can I chahnge workgroup name?

To do so, I removed this Certification Services, but then Driver Extender stop working and I couldn't add users/shares

As Ken said, it cannot be changed in this build.
