snake1955,
Our tools for analyzing the diagnostic report indicate that the Windows XP Home is genuine.
Please visit the website for validating Windows XP :
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/
Allow the scripts to run and fix any errors that may come up.
If you are still having issues, please repost back into this thread.

The diagnostic tool passed on everything. However, when I try to validate windows, i get "You have encountered an unknown error. Please contact your local product support team for further assistance with this issue. [0x80080299]. I have looked that up and still can't get anywhere. Could a virus cause this issue? I ran spybot with the latest updates and I have avast antivirus loaded on my os, but when it says all clear and I go to the web, a couple adwares still pop up.
