My computer crashed, so I got a new one and Office will not validate

Question

Hi,
I am a college student and I purchased a valid student version of Office a while back; however the PC that I had it installed on completely crashed, so I got a new PC and installed Office on it and now it is not coming up as genuine.
Do I have to purchase another copy or is there anything that I can do to make my copy genuine?Saturday, January 26, 2008 3:22 AM

Hello augustg,
It appears your Microsoft Office Suite is showing as non-genuine. Is the Office Suite a trial version which came pre-installed with your system? Have you installed a trial version of Office Ultimate 2007? You are receiving an error status 104 which is an unknown PID. This could be attributed to a Beta/Trial version of Office you previously installed and used. In turn maybe some of the remnants were left behind during the removal process. This may have caused the false positive error code 104. Please use the Office disk and uninstall the software. Once you have completed the above steps let’s try validating Office again at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the “Validate Office” button. After you have completed the Office removal process and validation is still failing please follow the steps below:
1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
2) Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 click RUN.
3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.
5) From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.
6) Please reply back to this post and PASTE the entire results into reply of this post.
We can take a look at it and offer you some suggestions as to how to resolve this issue.Thank you,

Please follow this troubleshooting procedure:
1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy".
3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the "WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post. http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25
4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and recommend an appropriate solution.
