CRM 2011 and ADFS: Same Server

Question
-
Hi,
We have a server running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
I would like to install IFD CRM 2011 with ADFS on the same server, since only 5 users will use it.
Are there any issues with this setup?
Thanks,
Darren

Hi Darren,
If you are installing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 in a single server configuration, AD FS 2.0 installs on the default Web site. Therefore, you must create a new Web site for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011.
Before you enable claims-based authentication, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 must be running on a Web site that has been configured to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server Setup will not configure the Web site for SSL.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 must be running on a Web site that has a single binding. Multiple IIS bindings, such as a Web site with two HTTPs or two HTTP bindings, are not supported for running Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011.
When claims-based authentication is enabled, HTTPS must be used in your browser for both internal and external access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011.
I suggest you go through quickly the document "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Claims-based Authentication.doc" at:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3621
I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

This is a valid configuration and the previous post summarises the main points. However, I'd suggest you go the "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Claims-based Authentication.doc" document carefully, rather than quickly - there's a lot of important detail in that document
