It's possible.  The general consensus is if you allow Remote Access to your server, you should have a WHS-compatible A/V installed on it.

  • To join in / follow this up - which A/Vs  are WHS compatible - e.g. I use AVG - is that do you know please?
(I don't have an AV on my WHS set up.)

There are only a couple:  avast! and F-Secure (I use avast!).  Also, the HP MSS come with McAfee, but I don't know if you can purchase the WHS version of McAfee separately if you built your own server.

  • Thank you for the answer. It seems that an anti-virus s/w is mandatory if we want to share with friends and family.
Originally, when I built my WHS, the goal is to share with friends, family and relatives easily but now I have to think about viruses may be infected other personal data.

Thanks - Does Avast (free) home work or do you need the "Server" edition please?

OOPS - just found WHS version exists.
