Give training on Role Tailored Client Dynamics NAV 2009 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we have a training facility in which we give diverse trainings about Microsoft Dynamics NAV functionalities to our customers that have decided to use Dynamics NAV as the software package for their business.

in the past we had native databases for that, which we could refresh each time we had a new training group and start from fresh with the excercises.

Now, as per NAV 2009, we have to give training on the Role Tailored Client, as that is the look and feel our customers will work with. The problem is that the Role Tailored Client only runs on SQL. In order to also have a fresh blanc training environment we now work with a Virutal PC.  In this VPC we installed Dynamics NAV 2009 on a SQL so that we can train on the Role Tailored Client.

But we do believe that this is not the most suitable solution. Each time before a new training we have to copy-paste the blank VPC on each individual training computer which takes a lot of time. Also it is the case that within the VPC, Dynamics NAV 2009 is very slow, which is not a very good first experience for our customers with Dynamics NAV 2009. That is why we would like to know how other training facilities handle this in their trainings.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

    Regards, Linda

  • We have created a server, and installed Active Directory, Sql.

Now, for each machine we have database on server and configured NAV application server in individual machine.

It is working at our place with 10 trainee's computer and 1 server.
