Unable to install Money Dlx sunset RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a downloaded Sunset and get a message "Setup was unable to install some of the components needed to run Money. Try installing money again." I have tried several times and still get the same message. I have also tried to install MoneyPlus from the CD and get the same error.

Is there anything I can do to install money on this computer? I am running XP.

    Thank you

I would try creating a new XP user with Administrator privilege. Start->Settings->ControlPanel->UserAccounts->CreateANewAccount
Switch to that user and install Money.

The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get default settings for the new user.  If you succeed this way, it
would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work.  You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE settings will not have been changed.

  • I am new to this forum and have little computer knowledge.  I'm trying to transfer my Money 2006 data to the Sunset edition so I can then transfer the data to Quicken 2011.  With Cal Learner's help (thank you) I was finally able to get around the AutoRun issue with the Sunset edition.  I am now having the same issue as Wyofool when I install the Sunset software, I repeatedly get the error message "unable to install some components".  I tried the suggestion to set up and use a new user but this did not work.  Any other suggestions that might be relatively easy to implement?  Many thanks in advance.

Sorry the new Administrative user was unable to do the install.  Here are a few ideas for you:

Poke Alt momentarily to bring up the line with Tools in it. Then Tools->InternetOptions->Advanced->Reset...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827814/en-us method 5 may be worth a try.

Since this is only a temporary operation anyway, maybe you could try doing your conversion on a different computer.
