Got Adapte AHA-2944U2W to work RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am setting my system up witht the following criteria:

    • Intel DG965WH
    • Celeron D 352
    • 512 MB RAM
    • Adaptec AHA-2944U2W
    • SCSI SCA drive

The problem is that the the 2944U2W is not supported for Windows 2003, and there are no drivers.  To further the issue, Adaptec no longer lists this model on it's web site, but it's sister adapters the 2940 and the 2944UW are listed.

I downloaded the 2944 drivers, expanded them, and burned them to the a CD. (I know they can fit onto a floppy)

Then when the system could not find any drives, I went to the \2000\Ultra2 directory, and ta-da, it works!

  • Bumping an ancient thread, but the 2944 is HVD only - connecting a differential or LVD device to it will most likely blow the bus transceivers on the device.
