Hi Alberto,
I thought that since 70-648 is a composite of 70-640 and 70-642, they would stop you in the middle of the test to take the other part. Thanks.

Hi Kosh,
When I was taking 70-431 SQL Server Management .. like you said 1 exam 1 fee 1 day, but in the middle of the test we were stopped to take the simulation part of the test. I thought since 70-648 is a composite of 70-640 and 70-642 there will also be 2 exams one covering AD and one covering NI. And what your saying is there's 1 exam for both parts. That's a load of my mind, because during that SQL Server exam I panicked not knowing there were 2 test. Thank you very much.

The list of skills measured by the exam can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/Exam.aspx?ID=70-648#tab2
As you can see it contains six different parts, but this doesn't mean that the exam itself will present questions grouped in any particular way. You will receive questions about all the sections in one "part", unless you count as an exam part the time that is allocated for entering comments after finishing the exam questions.

Hi Henry,
It covers different types of information and knowlege. See http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/Exam.aspx?ID=70-648&locale=en-us.
But if you're asking if you have to take more than one test (like the MCITP requires passing many exams or the A+ that (at least when I took it) had two parts which were separate tests to get the certification, then the answer is NO -you sit one time (we all hope) for ONE exam. No multiple parts or tests. No separate fees. No way to separate the subjects covered so you can break up the amount of study into separate parts.
You can verify this further if you choose by going to Prometric and trying to schedule it. You'll see that it is one exam on one date/time and for one fee (and that's the real proof - LOL!)
Good luck!
