how to set permission on the record RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I would like to set permission on the record. I know how to set permission on the entity. There is the opportunity to set permission on the View too?

  • Unfortunately MS CRM does not provide this functionality, you can't set permission on the record, but there could be possiblity you can achieve this to some extend through custom development depend on your actual requirement.

  • As everyone stated you cannot set permissions for a single record. Any security configuration you choose apply to the entire entity and thus all records in that entity. It may or may not work based on your requirements however you can set the entity to be Read only at the user level then establish sharing for this individual records. Finally you could write custom code to share the records or look into a tool that would automate it such as http://www.gicrm.com/?categoryId=29264&itemId=77562

    The same concepts of sharing apply to a view. If you need to set up a view for only a few people use advanced find, then save the new view and then share it as well.
