Email Subject in CRM 2013 is truncated to 200 characters RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Can anyone give you views on the below issue:

We have incoming emails to our CRM 2013. If the email is with a long subject, it is truncated only to 200 characters even if the email subject field length in CRM is 400 characters. Can we have maximum of 400 characters as Email Subject? If yes, how can we achieve?

Requirement - If there is a long subject, need to copy the full subject to a custom field and truncate the actual subject to maximum length of the Email Subject in CRM (i.e. 400 characters).

Implemented - On pre-create step in the plug-in, we handled to truncate the subject. But, the subject is already 200 characters when it is about to create in CRM. How to get the full subject in my plug-in context so that we could truncate as we want.

    Thanks,

    Srinivas

  • Thanks for the reply Hari.

When an email is sent from the external source, it is received to an email box (with only max 255 characters) which will forward the email to Email router and then to CRM (received only with 200 characters).

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Can you check for any plugin, workflows and disable the same from Email entity. And try to synchronize and confirm if the subject is getting trucated automatically by system?? I have done implementations and have never faced such issue

  • Followed up with Microsoft on this issue and they confirmed it is a product limitation.
