How to publish content to be accessed via web browser RRS feed

  • Question

  •

We have downloaded the LCDS tool and tried to use it for some test learning content development. When we click on the ‘Preview’ button, it displays the results correctly.

We would like to publish it on Web (Intranet) so that all internal users can access the content. When we click on the ‘Publish’ button, it only gives one method to publish in “Media Map (CSV file)”. We don’t understand how to use this tool to publish the content that can be accessed via web browser.

We are running this tool with local Admin privileges on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2. The IE Browser version is 6.0 SP2 (would that be a problem?)

Is there a document or some information that we can refer to? Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

  • If you post the course files to a web server you can then link to the “wrapper.htm” located in the course file in order to view the course online.

  • Hi there,

I have uploaded my course to the web sever and when I try to open it (... wrapper.htm), it displays an error window with this message: "LMSAPI" is undefined.

What can I do in order to view my course from my site?

    Thanks

  • Do you get the same error message if you link to "Default.htm"?

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I tried as "default.htm"... but there isn't any file with this name, so it's not working...

Is there anybody who knows how to fix this problem?!

    Thanks.

  •  In the LCDS Help file there is a section called Publishing and Distributing in that section is a topic called Distributing a standonle course.  This has instructions for how to distribute the course.

Are you using Windows Server 2003?

  • There seems to be no good answer coming from Microsoft on how to fix the 'LMSAPI is undefined' error.  Linking to either the wrapper.htm or default.htm page will not work.  I bet the LCDS is another Microsoft tool designed only to run in certain environments, and not able at all to run when loaded on a UNIX server outside of a LMS with the SCORM package installed.

A quick search of the Internet says that many people have still not gotten a good answer from Microsoft.

  • Hi folks I am getting a similar issue, I can upload the folder to the intranet, but the thing is that when someone else tries to see it, a little window pops up and remains, saying that is downloading the viewer and it just hang in there!!!

  • If you copy the folder to the location on the server and link to wrapper.htm you may see it in your browser (if you use IE). I have uploaded to  my server, the only problem I have is that .swf-files does not show.
