Connector installation "Incorrect Password" in Win 7 64 bit

Question
-
I am pulling out my hair!! I've tried everything I can find on here about the "Incorrect Password" when trying to install the connector software on a Win 7 64 bit machine. I am able to WTS into the server from the 7 machine so I know that it can connect. I see the HS on the network from the HS machine, just can't get past the password (yes it is correct) incorrect error on the install of the client.Help!!Thursday, January 21, 2010 11:29 PM

Do you have any security software on your client that might be blocking it? Have you checked to make sure your server (and client) have the correct time and day (including the year)?Help!!- Proposed as answer by Olaf EngelkeModerator Friday, January 22, 2010 3:59 PM

Try to log in locally on the server and check the event log.
I have seen this behavior in two cases:
Messed up settings from DCOM component activation permissions on the server after installing additional stuff on the server (visible in the event log as warnings).
Date and time differences (my server was out of time due to a Bios reset, a fresh install of Windows Home Server may adjust your default time zone to Pacific Time, which together with an optical correct clock may also cause a difference of several hours).
Best greetings from Germany

Windows firewall turned off and only have MS antivirus from security essentials installed. Checked time and date and they are exact.Friday, January 22, 2010 6:38 PM

Okay. I will try this. The only thing that has been installed on the server was PP3 and Avast HS version of antivirus.
