Windows Home Server (Original) Combined Drives RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello:

I am using the original Windows Home Server (not 2011).  I just added a second hard drive and in the storage manager, I said to just add it to available storage (not for backup).  When I did that , the management console shows the new available space.

Then from both an XP workstation and a Windows 7 workstation, I mapped a drive letter to the "My Documents" portion of the Windows Home Server.

From either the XP or Win7 workstation, when I right click on the mapped drive letter which points to "My Documents" on WHS, it shows statistics for the used and unused portions, but the ICON picture on the XP and Win7 workstations of the mapped drive shows it at 100% full.  Everything seems to work except that the picture of the drive (a pie chart) shows it full from either XP or Windows 7.  Just to make sure it wasn't full, I was able to copy 20 GB of data to the mapped drive which points to the WHS.

    Is this normal behavior?

  • Yes, this is expected behavior.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Thanks, Ken:

It's good to know my addition of a new drive wasn't a "meltdown" :)
