Windows Media Player won

Question
-
Whenever I tried to open the Windows Media Player, it does not seem to respond. I have tried wmv files, mpg files, wma files, and mp3 files. But all of them did not work. I wanted to repair it since it won't respond. But when i try to open the application 'setup_wm' in program files, It says please wait and then says: "There is a more recent version of Windows media Player (11.0.6001.7004) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (11.0.6001.7000) to install files or to repair your current version of the Player." I had no idea what that means. There are no uninstalling applications in the Program Files nor the control panel uninstall (except the plugin for the WMP. I want to use it now and I want it to be fixed now. But I can't because I do not know how. Please help. Thanks to whoever who try to help me.
