video card for whs. RRS feed

  • Question

  • My whs is installed on a fairly recent desktop computer that does have a seperate video card, which is a nvidia 7600 gt. Some of the newer cards by nvidia are more powerfull and have something called hybrid power which may save cpu cycles and produce less overall load on  various subsytems. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? The current card is trouble free and I am only considering upgrading it in hope of improving some aspect of performance by taking advantage of newer technology.

    Hi,
since Windows Home Server is not meaned to be used as a desktop system with a user sitting in front of it (the most hardware WHS applicances have not even a video adapter built in) there is not much, you would win by upgrading the video adapter.
Maybe less noise due to passive cooling could be an interesting benefit of a new card.
    Best greetings from Germany
