One mediation server for each voip gateway? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it true that I can forward calls to only one gateway from a mediation server?

I currently have one (external) analog voip gateway with 8 ports connected to a mediation server.

I would like to expand capacity and add additional gateways.

Do I need to install a mediation server for every gateway?

    Please advise.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Martijn,

Unfortunately at the moment you can only specify one PSTN gateway per mediation server.  This can be very limiting especially in large deployments. Dialogic have a mediation server that has T1 cards in the server which helps to lower hardware count  but if all you wanted to do was add more FXO ports you may just need to buy a bigger PSTN gateway if you would rather not deploy more mediation server/gateway pairs.

    Cheers
