WGA just trashed my wife's PC

Question
-
We purchased a Dell Laptop in 2008. On 8/12/10 MS pushed numerous updates. After installation WGA Vista informs us that this is not a genuine copy of windows and we need to reactivate. Some idiot at dell decided the bottom of laptop was a great place to put the COA sticker which has since worn off. MS Tech support refuses to help me because I dont have the COA. Dell has record that we purchased it new from them but doesnt have the COA. System restore failed. Did MS just trash the laptop? What can I do besides paying MS AGAIN, or installing LINUX for an OS?

Please download and install Dell Inspiron 1525 System BIOS Version A17 [you currently have an older Version A08 installed]. After restarting your computer, visit Genuine Microsoft Advantage and click on Validate Windows, then restart your computer again. Let us know if this procedure solves the issue...thanks!

To help us analyze and troubleshoot a non-genuine notification issue you may be experiencing, please download and run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool.
Once you run the tool, click on the Continue button, then click on the Copy button and paste the report into your post, along with your question.
Thank you!

Hello Mimi4,
Please do not piggyback on another person's post.
Please click the "Ask A Question" link and start your own thread. When you do, follow these instructions:
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" several times to download and start the Utility. When asked, click the "Continue" button. When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.
Also, please look on the computer for a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA). If there is a CoA, please tell us what version and edition of Windows is listed on the CoA, and if there is a manufacturer's name or "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" printed on the CoA. Do not post the product key printed on the CoA.
