A recently installed Windows Live OneCare was getting really buggy--I kept getting messages that Windows Defender could not open (I didn't WANT it to), and then found that I couldn't open OneCare. I figured, from the forums, I should try re-installing.
I removed OneCare using Control Panel, and then tried re-installikng. No joy, same errors. So, I uninstalled, then downloaded and ran the onecare cleanup tool. Trouble is, the cleanup tool itself crashes! System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protedcted memory. This is often... at System.Drawing.SafeNativeMethods.Gdip.GdipCreateFontFromLogfontW(HandleRef hdc..... and so on.
Now someone somewhere appears to have had this problem because of a missing font (Candera?). I checked, and that font is on my system and is working. So what now?
Help!
Nick.
