WHS folders to select for complete online backup RRS feed

    I have WHS shares being backed up online using KeepVault. However, the bulk of our data does not reside on WHS shares and I want to back it up online just in case. KeepVault can backup user defined folders. Folders listed under D: are "14c9c003...", "DE", "folders" and "shares". KeepVault already tracks shares. Would I need to select all of the other 3 folders for backup? In a worst case senario, would reinstalling this data to WHS then allow me to do a bare metal restore of any lost PCs?

    Im a little confused as to what you are trying to do. If you say that the bulk of the data doesnt riside on the WHS shares then why are you looking at the D drive of the WHS?

    Where is "the bulk" of your data actually stored then?

    If Keepvault is already backing up your WHS shares then the data in your shares is protected.

    As for bare metal restores, if you are only backing up the shares then your computer backups are not being stored by Keepvault and so if you would also need to backup your computer backups.

    I'm using KeepVault myself. I don't think that it makes sense to add the computer backups.
    Far to much data changes every day. The files are typically 4GB in size and at the current upload rates of KeepVault this will never ever finish.

    As Andrew already suggested you can copy the computer backups to an external drive. There's an Add-In called BDBB that will do this for you
