At a guess, I’d say that you recently installed Service Pack 1?
If so, that broke the Loader that was installed to circumvent Windows Activation when you initially installed Windows.

The Key here is the OEM_SLP Key from an Acer machine – the motherboard is a Gigabyte Retail board probably manufactured early in 2010.
The initial install was probably enabled by a Loader, or by using RemoveWAT to get around licensing requirements.
It’s way too late now to try claiming any kind of refund from your vendor (assuming you were unaware of the problem), so your only chance is either to go through the MS Get Genuine process, or to purchase a new Full Retail copy of Windows 7.
Either way, I would recommend a clean install with your new legal copy, as you cannot be sure what else was loaded with the hacks used initially.

  • The line in your report,

    Windows OS version: 6.1.7601.2.00010300.1.0.003

is what told Noel that you have installed SP1.  Without SP1 the version would be 7600.  SP1 released in February of this year so if you bought the computer a year ago it would not have had SP1 yet.

An OEM SLP copy of Windows cannot be legitimately installed on a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard,

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128405

because that board is not used by comuter manufacturers.  It is only sold to custom system builders and end users.

That means your copy of Windows was pirated from a computer with a factory installed copy of Windows.

  • So when I bought this it came with a cracked version of Windows?

I don't think I have recently installed SP1 but I may have just not noticed.

    Thanks for the reply.

Does your machine have a COA sticker on the case?
If so EXACTLY what does it say? (do NOT post the Key itself)

No it doesn't have the sticker.

In that case the ONLY legal way that the vendor could have installed Windows (of any flavour) is using a Full Retail package – and the Licensing rules on that state that if the license is transferred, the disks, and package MUST be transferred at the same time. Failure to do so invalidates the install.
This means that the vendor (assuming that no such transfer of disks happened) was knowingly in contravention of the licensing terms, and as such committed fraud.
You could threaten the vendor with an investigation by your local law enforcement for piracy and fraud – see if that elicits a positive response.

    Thanks.

  • Purchase a full license retail copy of Windows 7 and reinstall Windows.  That's all you can do.  Be sure you have the drivers disk for the mobo before you start.

Do not buy Windows, Office, Creative Studio, or any other expensive, licensed software from individual sellers on eBay, the Amazon Marketplace, or other discount website.  Use the Microsoft Store, Amazon Corp., or other well-known seller.  The internet is full of Chinese-made counterfeits that look very authentic but whose product keys fail vailidation after a few months.

  • Urgh so expensive. Thanks for the tips, I was a little worried about buying it off ebay but they had good feedback so I thought it would be okay, guess that was a mistake. Will be reporting them to Microsoft if they don't reply with any reasonable excuse.

Thank you for helping me out.

eBay reps are almost useless in these cases – the pirates create many profiles, and buy'/sell between them, creating a false history. Often the sales items are household goods. Once the rep is sufficient to their need, the sales suddenly switch to all-counterfeits, and the volume rockets until the complaints start to come in – then they run for the hills, and the next profile.
