How to overwrite files with same names RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since the last Win 10 upgrade I can't overwrite files with the same names anymore, instead I get version numbers. I don't want this ... how do I get it back to the way it was?

    Example:

In a folder I have a file called "FRED" and it's a word file.

Then I copy a "newer" version of FRED into that same folder. Rather than getting the message saying that the file already exists and do I want to SKIP, REPLACE, etc ... now it just creates another version of it and I now have TWO files ... one called FRED and the other called FRED (1).

How do I stop this, it's incredibly annoying?

    Thanks in advance !
