CRM 2011 on premise installation with pre configured domain groups RRS feed

  • Question

  • When installing crm 4, we had an issue in that our 4 required groups(privuser, sqlaccess, user, reporting) were nested and CRM couldn't seem them. There were resource groups set up, and inside the resource groups were the account groups that contained the service accounts and users. We could not get the installation to work like this. We are doing a minimum permissions installation.

Can someone tell me if this is still the case with 2011 - can the install see nested domain groups?

  • CRM 2011 no longer uses the UserGroup, and hence no longer checks that a user account is a direct member of this group. However, I believe CRM still checks for direct membership of the Priv gorups - PrivUser and PrivReporting - so I doubt nested groups would work for these 2 groups.

However, I think you should be able to use the nested group model in CRM 2011 for the SqlAccess and Reporting group, though you'll need to set the AutoGroupManagementOff registry value, and maange the group membership manually
