    Thanks for the help. My problem is that i keep getting pop up messages every so often saying some features such as Aero wont work because windows isnt genuine. Obviously windows is genuine. Ive bought this Toshiba laptop from Best Buy. Some other things that are odd is that i cant open the control panel unless i use my computer. If i try to use the start menu shortcut, the window opens, displays nothing, and freezes. Some other things wont work such as windows update, so i cant update anything.

     

       My other problem is that im an American living in China, so i cant call customer support unless there is a chinese number that also speaks English. I'm really trying hard to not have to reinstall windows and reformat but more and more its seeming like the only option. Ive uninstalled every program basically that i had installed to check compatability issues. I did tinker a bit with the services, but nothing that would really fact in i think (for example, background intelligent etc etc is automatic).

     

    If there is any other information i can give, please let me know. Thanks in advance

  • Can you tell me what error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

    The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of them message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).

     

    It's strange to me that you're getting that messaging but your WGA diag info posted above shows that you're genuine.  Thank you for posting that, by the way!  Would you rerun it after you validate and post the results?

    i then tried the disk cleanup (did this many times actually before today ) and there's never been a time where it asked me for my product key. Actually, i dont even think i have it. It's a Toshiba, and only came with two recovery discs, but they are toshiba discs not microsoft

    now it says invalid license. How is this possible? I bought computer from a Best Buy in New York on February 25th i suppose of this year. It's brand new, doesnt have any other OS installed on it and is far from any illegal copy that i know of.....
     
    help? if it's a simple thing such as faxing my receipt to prove, i cna try to call someone back home in NY and ask them to that for me. Obviously i didnt bring that with me overseas.
