Windows Vista Ultimate, No desktop, most programs will not open RRS feed

  • Question

I have Microsoft Vista Ultimate, I tried Windows Live One Care and did not like it when I tried to uninstall I lost desktop which at the timed seemed like everything. I eventually started getting on line via task manager. I downloaded the Live Care Cleaner and uninstalled it, but there are still a lot of programs that won't work, Windows update, I can't Validate Windows, Rhapsody no good, I can't install anything unless I am in safe mode and then only hardware drivers and maybe a few programs no windows updates, gametap, Netflix player, diagnostics but what is strange is a lot of programs do work internet explorer, Firefox (Sometimes), Office(2007), AOL Player, etc. What really stinks is that I ordered the Vista upgrade online and downloaded and installed I do not have the installation disk, when I go to digital locker I could download Vista again but it won't run, and I can't do back up or restore and I cannot delete or move ANYTHING from my desktop.  Any suggestions would be awesome.

  • Hello cmencer,

Wow, that does sound bad and, unfortunatly, it is way outside my area of knowledge.

I would suggest either going to the One Care forums at http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=28&SiteID=2 and see if they can help fix Vista up.

Contact Vista support and have them assist you in re-installing your Upgrade version of Vista. This shouldn't cost you anything since Window Installation problems are usually supported for free.  (this is the better opition, in my opition, considering the extent of the issue)

Very sorry I couldn't be more help,
