Backups WHS Console status RRS feed

  • Question

    Install went great guys!

Glad to find out in a thread that your unable to backup more than 1 client at a time.  However, it was noted that if you tried to back up a second machine you would see a status of "backup waiting" on the second client.

Where would you see that status at?

During the initial backup, are you able to see files being backup on the server?  I'm only seeing empty folders when i try to view them.

Is there  a way to actaully see if the files are being backup'd?

  • The status will appear on the second client PC, the one that's waiting. You'll see it if you select "View Backup Status" from the tray icon's context menu.

During the backup, you won't be able to see anything on the server beyond the disk and network activity. To see the contents of a backup, you can:
    • Select a client PC in WHS Console.
    • Click View Backups.
    • Select the backup you want to view.
    • Click Open...
    • If you have more than one disk being backed up, select the disk you want to view and click Open.
    • WHS will take some time to open the backup (and will load a virtual device driver it it's the first time you've opened a backup), and will present it in an Explorer window.
From that point, you'll be able to drag/drop files from the backup to your PC.
