sound problem in windows vista

  Hello all, i have a problem with sound when  a sound plays  it sounds like my pc is freezing for a sec or two. i have updated my soundcard drivers i have tried my HD audio from my ati  video card but the problem remains and the problem happened in a new pc that i have just formatted.Also when the song freezes i have no change in cpu or ram usage. and it happens in all media players (windows, winamp, vlc powerdvd)

  MB : DFI UT x58
  CPU i7 920
  RAM 6gb ddr3 1600mhz
  OS Win Vista 64bit
  and the soundcard is onboard with realtek chipset
  VGA sapphire 4870x2
  no wireless cards just a usb modem and if i disconnect it the problem remains
