Office 2010 digital download - online validation not recognises installation! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today I purchased office 2010 Home & student version as a digital download.

Everything went smooth & product is activated using key.

But when I used validation tool in Microsoft website it says "No office product found for validation"

This really annoys me. However office programs works well. I’m running on Windows 7 original platform.

Can anyone explain the cause please?

    Charw

  • Hello charw1,

Can't say for sure, but it's likely that the Validation Utility and its web pages have not yet been updated to support Office 2010.  It took a few weeks for the Windows Validation Utility to be updated to work with Windows 7 as well.

That might also be the case for the mgadiag utility.  If you follow these instructions we can check to see if it "sees" your installed Office H&S 2010:

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" several times to download and start the Utility.  When asked, click the "Continue" button.  When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.

Dan, the version currently on the link you gave does not recognize installations of Office 2010 yet.  A snip of the one on the computer I am using which has Office 2003 Pro, 2007 SBE and 2010 Home and Student installed in parallel.  I think when you see the diagnostic version change from Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0) then it should show 2010.  I have asked if a couple of times in posts if Darin knows when the diagnostic will be updated but have never got a response, probably because he doesn't know either.

  • That is correct.

I have not been given an ETA for when an Office 2010 aware MGAGiag tool will be released. However, I did think that the Validation site was able to Validate Office 2010.

LVTravel: Sorry for seeming to have ignored your questions, I honestly did not see that you asked.

charw1: As long as you purchased the Digital Download thru the Microsoft Store (thru Microsoft's partner Digital River) or thru the Dell Download store, your Office wwould be Genuine.

  • Darin, no problem, I realize you are very busy.  You might want to look at the post I made about other legitimate download sites (Not activation issue but information...) posted on the 18th.
