Switch off New Record Button RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Is there a way of removing the New record button in a custom entity.  We have a custom entity which is related to the Contact entity.  We need to be able to add existing people from the Contact list in the new entity but stop anyone from clicking on the New button and trying to add a new entry that way.

We just want this facility for this one custom entity and my fear is that if it can be done then it will be a blanket setting that will disable the New button for all entities instead of just selected ones.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Douglas

  • Dear Douglas,

You can get this with setting permissions on roles - create right  put that to none. then nobody can access the new.

Other way is get the getElementByID and use that in javscript to hide the button on form, you need to get all form properties and see where is New.

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply but am afraid that won't work.  I want them to be able to create new entries for the custom entity.  Actually, have been looking at the problem and it's a little more complex than first thought.  Need to be able to choose users from a filtered list, effectively a subset of those people listed in the Contacts entity.

Think we might have to rethink this.  Thanks for your reply anyway.

Many thanks for the advice.  To be honest, have been side tracked by other stuff recently so haven't had much chance to look into our issue.  Not even sure if my question is pertinent to our project or not anymore but again thanks for the information.

    Best regards,
