Product ID RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am attempting to re-install my Office Home and Student 2007 and the product ID requests a 20 digit number on the COA and there isn't a 20 digit number that I can locate w/ OEM in the number.  There is a 25 digit "Product Key" but no clearly identified "Product ID".

    Please help.

  • Hello spoksos,

I am unaware of any Microsoft product that installs this way.  If anyone knows of such, please bring it to my attention by posting in this thread.

The last two sections of the Product ID are partially generated by characteristics of the computer onto which the product is being installed.

The fact that Setup is asking for a Product ID in the format you posted, before installation can proceed, is kind of a Catch-22, as Microsoft programs do not have a product ID until they are installed!

This situation calls into question the genuineness of the software you are installing.

  • Hello spoksos,

Genuine Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 uses a 25-character (letters and numbers) Product Key for Product Activation.

I am unaware of any feature of any Microsoft program, Office or otherwise, that requests you to input a "Product ID."

In order to recieve the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click the "Continue" button, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into your post.

  • I previously loaded the product to my computer after its purchase without difficulty, but recently had my computer worked on secondary to marked inefficiencies.  Now, I am reloading the programs onto my computer and the install wizard prompts me for "Product ID".  The 25-character Product Key is clearly marked, but the wizard specifically asks for a "20 digit Product ID" w/ the following: _______ - OEM - _______  _________.  The COA is clearly marked but the "Product ID", 20 digit, cannot be found.
