Duped by what appears a valid seller site

Question
-
Hi I've been trying to ensue that all our home software is valid and to that end I recently purchased a couple of copies of office from the web. Google recommended site at that.
I've read the threads, and understand the even though I thought I bought a valid copy of office, because it's returning an invalid error when it's run the the GAS validator, its a counterfit copy. I've followed the advise on the threads about the possible earlier versions of office that could return such an error, but I end up with the same result. I've been done :-(
I've raised a piracy ticket about that fact that I think I've been done, and am about to start chasing the supplier, although, even though they gave a UK address to start with, it turns out it came from China, so I'm not expecting to get far, if anywhere with regard to a refund.
So the question is. Is there anything else I can do at this moment in time, or anything else I should do?
I bought two copies of office, one for my wife's lappy and one for mine and I've now got real doubts about this second copy, as you can understand, which while unrapped, has not been used.
Advise would be appreciated.Tuesday, November 3, 2009 11:08 PM

Hello Vic,
The Office Notifier (the program that check the Validation Status of Office) is seperate from Office itself. The Notifier run a check about every 5 to 7 days to checks the Validation status of Office. The Notifier does not know that you uninstalled and reinstalled Office and would not detect the change in the Validation status untill it ran another Validation check.
As you appear to have already found out, if you click the "Learn More Online" link in the Non-Genuine message, triggers Notifier to do a Validation Check. At which point, it detected that your Office's Validation Status had changed to Genuine and acted accordingly by ceasing the Non-Genuine messaging.
Thank you,

OK. I got the Home and student to work by forcing a new validation (even though there is nowhere that say's it's required, or nowhere I've found ;-) ).
An answer to my original question would be welcome though.Wednesday, November 4, 2009 12:26 AM -
