    Hi

    I have windows vista home premium installed and whenever there is an update available which is critical, windows automatically updates my system and in the process closes all the files I have kept open. By doing this it automatically force quits all the files and restarts the computer thus I have lost my work many times (when I am not around my computer)..some how even the autorecovery in applications like winword doesnt back up the files. This seems annoying and is there any way to prevent this from happening.

    1.  Launch Windows Update.

     

    2.  In the left pane, click Change settings.

     

    3.  Change your Windows Update settings to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them"

     

    4.  Click OK.
