CRM 2011 error after installing rollup 6 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using CRM 2011 on-premise, which is installed on a virtual server running windows 2008 R2 datacenter. Since I installed update rollup 6, I experience a strange error. When I open any of the forms, the ribbon of the form won't load, and the page returns with "Error on page" message. The other parts of the page works fine. This is the case in all of the deployed organisations. I tried to repair the CRM with no results. Unfortunately rollup 6 cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled either.

Any ideas how to resolve this issue apart from reinstalling the whole CRM?

  • I don't quite understand why, but installing rollup 8 and then removing it solved the problem.

  • Was this upgraded from CRM 4.0?

I have seen a workaround where you roll up a blank CRM 2011 UR6 on an empty server, export an unmanaged soltution with the RibbonXML and then load it to your production CRM, it can restore your Ribbon and fix errors like that.

  • Well, it wasn't upgraded from CRM 4.0, but I guess it worths a try.

  • Hello BorsikAdam,

Can you please post the details of error and if possible can you provide exact repro steps, with traces. The traces should be present on C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Trace

Was this a fresh install or a patch of UR6 on a VM. If its a patch, were there any customizations.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

The error occured when I tried to open a contact form, but it also applies to any forms.

It happened after I installed IE9 and update rollup 6 on a virtual machine which had CRM2011 already installed. First I suspected IE9 causes the problem, but I rolled it back to 8 and still no change. There are customizations in the organization, but not on the contact form.

    Thanks in advance,

    Adam

  • You havnt tried surffing CRM from an external machine, not from within the CRM server?

Also, RU7 and RU8 are available for installation.
