Error in configuring Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We are trying to configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook but we are experiencing issues in some of the users. Their getting this error message "There is a problem communicating in microsoft dynamics server...". When we run the Tracing we got this messages:

    >Error occurred while refreshing registry cache, cache has been cleared. Exception: System.IO.IOException: No more data is available.
    >Unable to Read RCOffline registry value
    >Crm Exception: Message: Invalid OrganizationId "c76ffa3b-c74c-4686-875a-c47ffcdf5332"., ErrorCode: -2147220970

Another thing that makes us wonder is, some of the user has been successfully configure while others are not.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi,

Were the clients configured before on another organization including offline capabilities?

Try to uninstall the outlook plugin complete with this description: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11752.dynamics-crm-2011-outlook-client-uninstall.aspx and then install it new.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

I am facing the same issue for which you proposed the above solution.

I am still getting the same error that "There is a problem communicating with Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."

    Please suggest any other solution.

    Regards,

    Asad

  • CRM Online or On Premise? If on Premise are you using IFD?

  • Do you happen to know if your Online Org used Windows Live ID or the Microsoft Online Services Log in?

First thing I would check would be check the User Time zone and clock. Make sure they are set correctly.

Remove any Saved User names or passwords for CRM

Makes sure the CRM URL is in the Trusted Sites Zone.

Try giving the user the System Admin role temporarily.

  • Hi,

I've encountered this issue before. This could have various reasons:

1- Sometimes when event viewer service stops, you could not set CRM in outlook. You should take ownership of two folders in the client from this path: c > windows > system32. The folders are: Logfiles & winevt.

2- Sometimes it could be because of different time and date. Set the client time to AD time.

3- Most of times this is a security role problem. I searched a lot to find the exact security permission which it produces error, but I could not! However, you could solve it by this solution: give the user admin role. Set the outlook. Remove the admin role and give what role you want.

  • Hi,

Does the login by browser work? The log file above tries to connect to url http://10.10.10.36/XRMServices/2011/Discovery.svc - what happens if you enter the url to your browser? First of all: are you sure that this url is correct?! I don't think that this url points to crm online?!

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • @Asad

You seem to have hijacked this forum thread which was started by kb1183.

While your problem seems to be superficially the same, the cause and solution are likely to be very different. As you can already see, various people are trying to ask for and provide information but it is unclear to whom these posts are addressed so in the end this makes it much harder for everyone involved to actually provide quality assistance to get a speedy resolution. To avoid wasting anyone's time, including your own, you may be better off starting your own thread (perhaps linking to this one) so that you can try the fixes suggested for your setup, and kb1183 can deal with their own, different scenario.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Really appreciate it!

    @ Andreas Buchinger

This is the first time these users configure their CRM for Outlook and yes they were able to login via Web Browser.

    @ W_j

Is the client setting your talking about is in CRM or in their local machine?

    @ Payman Biukaghazadeh

We will try the your option 1 and 2 but for the 3rd option, I tried to setup this user with the same security role and it works well so I assumed it's not in the security role.

    Thanks @ Adam Vero! :)

Another weird part is that some of them can successfully setup their CRM for Outlook client and when we tried to setup their names in our vpc it works very well so I'm looking more on CRM for Outlook installation.

Any other thoughts are still welcome! Thanks everybody!

  • Hi,

Another option is that your error regards to an known bug from MS - you can find the workaround here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/crmgerman/thread/b17ec03f-16b1-4a71-8e90-329ce5c5c274/

The thread is in german, sorry for that, but the answers are in english - assuming this:

    • Take a backup of your crm database
    • On the SQL Server, open SQL Server Management Studio
    • Open a New Query against your database and run the following queries
    • Select name, attributerowid from Attribute where displaymask = 32 (Collect the result of this)
    • Select name, attributerowid from Attribute where displaymask = 64 (Collect the result of this)
    • Update Attribute set displaymask = '67108864' Where attributerowid = 'Result of step 3'
    • Update Attribute set displaymask = '67108864' Where attributerowid = 'Result of step 4'

    br,

    Andreas

  • Hi kbr1183,

i think you should compare the time settings of the client with the settings from the server.

Do you use the ip adress for the server url within the configuration wizard?

This does not work most times. I always use the dns-name for configuring the clients:

    http://crmservername

  • Hi All,

We we're able to solve this issue using this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2538692. Our issue is with the MAPISVC.inf file where the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 services is not registered. Solution is in the link above. Hope this help.

Thanks for your replies, I really appreciate it.
