  • Question

  • Hi,

i am currently looking into putting myself through the MCITP Server 2008 administrator certification, im not sure whether my organisaton has the funds to fund this, therfore was wondering if the Microsoft Self Paced training kits along with Hands on experiance of Server 2008 would be enough to give me a chance of passing this certification

  • You can take them in any order you want, but it's recommended you take the PRO exam last (since it's a test of your cumulative knowledge).

    Take them in order - 70-640, 70-642, 70-643, etc.

If you haven't taken the client exam, take that first as it tends to be the easier of them, and gives you an idea of what to expect with the Server 2008 exams.

  • Yes, it should be enough. If you have sufficient hands-on experience, you can simply read the "Skills Measured" section in the exam description page, verify that you are knowledgeable on each of the topics listed, and take the exams (I passed them in this way). If there is a topic on which you are not proficient, you can read the materials publicly available on Technet and other web resources. If you are not comfortable enough researching these materials, then you can instead (or additionally) buy and study the Self Paced Training Kits.

Yes, however I would also recommend purchasing practice exams from legit vendors like Preplogic, Transcender, Measureup, Boson, etc as you'll be able to see your weak areas and where to concentrate on.  Plus also one other study resource.

  • hi can you confirm what order i should be reading the material as i have started the 70-640 and it appears to start at DNS which seems a bit random,  missing out all installation etc, i already have experiance of installation but not sure about the microsoft best practices, is there any other Server 2008 reading you could recomened prior to the slef paced training kits,

    Thanks
