Microsoft Sync Framwork - Identity Column Insert/Updates In Client/Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I used Microsoft Sync Framework for one of our windows forms application where the client can use the application even when he/she is offline or not in the company network by hitting the database stored on his/her machine and when they come online, we sync the client database with server and vice versa. Everything is working fine except in some tables which contains Identity Columns as Primary Keys.

When the client first sync, if the table contains 3 records and the client made 4 inserts and then the identity id went upto 7 and he/she is offline. So, the table (database) which is in his/her machine is updated At the same time, on server some body made 2 inserts to the same table and so the identity id went upto 5.

So at this point, when the client sync with server, how come the client database updates both the server records first followed by client records or vice versa, without overwriting anything.

If it is not possible, what are my possible solutions?

    Thanks

    Nagarjun.
