  • Steve,

Thanks but the connection now seems to be ok.

I suspect what was happening was that it was carrying out a disc defragmetion over a staggered period,

    Could this be correct

  • It certainly sounds like it could be. Do you have any other security software installed on the PC? It should be removed to avoid performance issues and other problems.

If not, or you are not sure, I recommend that you contact support.

What type of Internet connection? DSL/Cable or dial-up? Is it very slow in booting up from off or is it simply slow in connecting to the Internet, but runs fine otherwise?

  • Connection is via a broadband modem.

I uninstalled my previous VA Anti virus suite so there should not be any others

The pc boots up ok, it is only when connecting to the Internet

  • By connecting to the Internet, do you mean opening a web browser? Are you connected directly to the modem or is a router in place between the PC and the modem? Have you rebooted the modem and/or router?

If you open OneCare, click on Change Settings, and disable the firewall temporarily, can you access the Internet normally?

  • I'm glad that it seems to be resolved, but I don't think that a Defrag would affect your ability to connect to the Internet. It may have been a problem on your ISP's side with Domain Name Resolution that has since been resolved.
