  • Hello bestestpostie,

If this Windows is XP, then not activating would not cause it to log her out. This would be caused by a deeper issue and I recommend (if possibel) logging into safe mode and backing up all the importent files, off the computer. Then either go to XP Newsgroups at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx  or XP Support at http://support.microsoft.com for additional assistance.

If this Windows is Vista, then when first logging into Vista, you will get a window and one of the options would be something like "learn more online".  This option will open a Internet Browser.

Once you have the browser open:
    1) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
    2) A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”
    3) When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.
    4) Go to the Vista Validation Forums http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/threads
    5) Create a new thread and post the diagnostic Report and a short description of the issue

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
