Outlook client can't go online RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

I have an Outlook client issue. All the users have laptop version installed. All of them when they take their laptops off the network, it goes offline and when they plug the network cable again, they go online.

One user only can never go online. I ran the diagnostic tool. It says that everything's normal but that it can't test issues related to the etwork because the Outlook client is offline. (The user can run the Web client normally and have access to the CRM server).

So how can i make him able to run Outlook client in online mode again?

    Any idea?

    Thanks in advance

  • What happens when the user selects the button in Outlook to "Go Online"?  If nothing happens, then run the diag tool and re-create the error to gain more information.

  • We have a similar issue with a twist.  Having been moved offline, whatever the glitch that happens that dis-configures the client occurs.  This results in the tool bar disappearing, hence no go online button.  The only way to recover is to reconfigure.  This will lose any offline changes that the user may have made.

I am unaware of a cure and am told that Microsoft is working on hot fixing it.

  • Have you tried to re-enable the CRM Client by selecting Help, Disabled Items, select the CRM add-in and select Enable?

If you don't see any options under Disabled Items in help, then try the following:

    1. Select Tools / Trust Center
    2. Select Add-Ins from the Left navigation menu
    3. Select the Go button on the bottom of the window
    4. Uncheck Microsoft Dynamics or check it if it is not checked
    5. Select OK

If the box was checked and you unchecked it, complete the steps again but check the box.

  • Yes, I know this.  Do you appreciate that this is not cure but a recovery?  Are you suggesting that I tell users to go into the trust center?  I'm happy that they understand how to use the Track in CRM button let alone going through recovery techniques.

  • I have users who know how to do this without causing an issue, but you have to use your best judgement.  I was just sharing the information with you in the event that you didn't have it.

  • Hi,

I didn't notice a response to this question.  Did you try this?

"What happens when the user selects the button in Outlook to "Go Online"?  If nothing happens, then run the diag tool and re-create the error to gain more information.

  • You did get an answer, there is no "Go Online" button.

The problem is still occurring, I have a few Outlook 2010 clients that jump from cable to WIFI and sometimes the Outlook client goes offline. There is no way to get the client go online again without wiping the local profile. This is a workaround and does not help me at all. Is there any known issue and a permanent fix for this?
