I want to Validate!

Question
-
Hello - I have been a bad boy. I recently purchased a new Intel Imac, installed bootcamp and am running Windows XP... only it is not the copy that I purchased! I purchased XP Home for my laptop (on its last legs), but when I did the bootcamp thing, I had heard that XP Home wouldn't work, so I used my roommate's copy, which is Professional. Wondows doesn't like his code, so I now am breaking the rules!
Then I heard that Home would, in fact, work with Bootcamp - though I'm still not sure of the dual core processor...
Well, I don't like the idea of having a non-validated OS (and neither does Microsoft!), so I would like to upgrade my purchased copy - as the laptop is not long for this world. I'd rather not reinstall on the mac, because it will be a big pain.
Question: is there a way to upgrade my official copy to Professional, get the key, and validate this Bootcamp with just the code, not reinstalling?
Wanting to be good...

All you need to do is to make a new Windows XP CD with Service Pack 2 "slipstreamed".
Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming (integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or
AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred) http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=223562

The installation requirements for installing Windows XP, using Apple's Boot Camp, state you can use Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional, providing they include Service Pack 2. If you installed a non-genuine copy of Windows XP Professional, then you'll need to purchase a genuine "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional and then change the non-genuine Product Key to the new genuine Product Key.
The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key - all without a reinstall! http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50346&clcid=0x409

Ah yes, I remember now! The reason I didn't use my purchased windows is because it is SP1. In the event that I reinstall - is it possible to order a new CD of XP Home SP2, under my original key number?Sunday, June 11, 2006 8:36 PM
