Product Key not valid when activating Office Home & Student 2007

Question
-
I have just moved to Windows 7 and I got the message that my product key is not valid whenever I try to activate my Office Home & Student 2007. Previously when I was using Windows XP, I did not encounter any problems. Strangely my Win7 also has trouble activating due to geo location, although it's intended for the area I'm living (SE Asia), but I think should post it in the Win7 forum. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello BPandjojo,
First, let's double-check to be sure the product key installed into Office H&S 2007 is the same product key as on your Proof Of License label. Search for a small harmless utility called the Magical jellybean Keyfinder and run it. It will report the product key used to install Office H&S 2007. Compare keys, they should be identical.
Assuming they are identical, your next step is to try activating your Office product telephonically.
If you encounter the same problem when trying to activate telephonically, please review this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895/

Hello BPandjojo,
Is your Office H&S 2007 a full retail package (clear plastic round corner pivoting box, Certificate of Authenticty on the outside top of the box, yellow-orange Proof Of License label with product key affixed to the pivoting tray, hologrammed installation disc, etc)?
Or do you have a MediaLess Licensing Kit, which is a black plastic case with a CoA and Product Key card inside?

Hi Dan,
it is the full retail package with all the characteristics (clear plastic round corner pivoting box, Certificate of Authenticty on the outside top of the box, yellow-orange Proof Of License label with product key affixed to the pivoting tray, hologrammed installation disc, etc) you described.

Hi Dan,

Hello BPandjojo,Not sure why?????, could have something to do with the legalities of licensing in different regions of the World, although you did mention that your Windows is licensed for that region of the world.
You can avoid the minor hassle of reactivation and save time reinstalling by taking a drive image backup of your computer once you get it all set up the way you want it. When you get to the point where you would have reinstalled from scratch, reimage instead, saving beaucoup time.
