  • Hello,
this feature has been introduced with Power Pack 1 and allows you to save the contents of the shared folders to a disk not in the storage pool, but associated to the server as backup disk.

To be able to backup the data stored in your network shares and take it off-site.

the purpose is to protect your valuable data stored on the WHS shares from incidents, which can destroy your WHS hardware and/or the data on it.
Such as overvoltage, water, fire, malicious or careless users, bugs in the software, a thief ...

So if you perform backups of the data to a few external drives you can at least be sure, that not all is lost, if you keep at least one of them offsite.
