Live care subscription want's two names RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have live care last year and bought a new copy and went to install. I forgot the name i previously registered at and began to subscribe with a new name, later i found out the old name and completed the registration. when the program now begins, it says it need s to be registered within 13 days. I only have it on 1 computer  and i don't want to have two licenses out of three gone.

    What should I do?

You did not need to uninstall/reinstall. You simply needed to renew with the retail key.

Now that you reinstalled, by activating with the same LiveID, the new install inherited the subscription status of the existing subscription and you were not prompted for payment or a retail PIN/Key.

Go to http://billing.microsoft.com/ and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare if you are renewing within 30 days of expiration and 5 days if renewal was performed between 90 and 30 days before expiration.

  • I have renewed, however I renewed with one email address, and now the program wants me to renew with another email adress, (the one I initially put in and then corrected).

I have changed my edit info in my qccount to put in the new email address, howver the program stills wants me to register with Microsoft and use another of my licenses.

    thanks

  • I believe that you "renewed" by creating a new subscription, but OneCare is installed on the PC with the old subscription that has expired.
Open OneCare and click Help/About and view the subscription ID shown. Go to https://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with that ID. Is that the expired subscription or the renewed subscription.
Your subscription is tied to a LiveID. You can't change the LiveID, but you can abandon one and use a different one for a new subscription.
