  • Dear layork20,

Thank you for your interest in the Buy Local program. We discovered yesterday that our system that checks eligibility had a bug introduced late last week that caused the eligibility checks to send users to an error page. We are currently working to rectify this problem.

However, it also appears that you are ineligible as you did not purchase your machine from a system builder, as indicated in your diagnostic report:

    Windows License Type: Retail

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Thank you,

    Jenifer

  • Your MGA report indicates you are running a retail version of Windows Vista.  Retail versions of Windows Vista are not eligible for the Bonus Pack offer.

To be eligible for BONUS PACK offers, the system you are using must meet the following requirements:

    • The system you are using must have been purchased in the United States with a genuine United States Microsoft® Windows® Vista® Ultimate, Microsoft Windows Vista Business, or Microsoft Windows® Vista Home Premium operating system or Microsoft Office® Professional 2007 or Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 pre-installed by an eligible system builder.
    • The BONUS PACK promotion is only open to computer systems purchased from system builder channels and excludes systems purchased from major computer manufacturers (OEMs), or those purchased as part of a volume license agreement.
    • BONUS PACK offers can only be redeemed from within the United States.
    • The system you are using must have been purchased or activated within the promotion period, and the BONUS PACK offers must be redeemed by a specific date. Please see the terms and conditions for more information: http://localpcbuilder.com/buylocal_terms.aspx

For a list of eligible products and a full list of terms and conditions relevant to validation of your system purchase, please see: http://localpcbuilder.com/buylocal_eligible.aspx

  • But I did purchase it from a builder. cyber power made my comuter, they advertised that I would get the bonus pack because of them.  I don't know why it says retail.  So far this OS has been a huge dissappointment, and I exect to have this issue fixed.  How is it that it say retail, when I bought it from a builder that advertised YOUR bonus pack?!

  • How do I contact a real human that I can speak to, who will be able to fix all of this?  This is becoming the most insulting consumer experience of my life.  Even Vista's updates don't work!

  • Contact the system builder you claim you purchased your PC from.  They are responsible for Windows Vista technical support if they indeed installed Windows Vista.

  • Dear layork20,

Regarding the Bonus Pack redemption, please create a support incident at https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860, then post the incident ID here. I will then contact you directly via e-mail.

Regarding problems with Vista upgrades, you might check out the Vista newsgroups: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx. If you don't find your answer there I suggest you create another support incident specific to those issues.

    Thank you,

    Jenifer
